Baked goods~

<- "You don't have a weighing scale for baking? Oh...then how?"  "...nevermind, let's use the one we normally use to take our weight."

What went on ytd: a baking session with Odie! She made choc chip and i, peanut butter. We literally dumped flour into that baking pan and put it on a normal weighing scale:
...although that didn't work so well. Ha! Simple it may be, but it was fun bonding over those mounds of dough, flour and sugar :)))
Gonna have a countdown with her and her churchmates come Mon, can't wait! <3

Also indulged in a shopping spree at toa payoh today; 3 shorts, 2 shirts and a (sucky)pedi! Now all that's left: Dr Marten boots and possibly a new cardi/fashion blazer.
CNY...the perfect valid excuse to go crazy shopping for all kinds of new clothes i've been lusting after!!

...thus ends this post.
Ta! :)

Creepypasta story:

  • The phone rings. I run to get it, thinking it may be my dad, coming to rescue me from Myrlie’s house and tell me everything about Elizabeth and then everything would be alright. Mom would stop crying, Elizabeth would just be some girl Mom knew during childhood, and everything would be alright.
I finally reach the phone. “Oh, Elizabeth!” the person on the other end cries. It’s not my dad. It’s mom.
Mom? This is Bethany. Not Elizabeth.
Oh, Elizabeth, you silly girl! Is this one of your made up aliases? Listen, Elizabeth, I’ve called to say good-bye.
Mom? This isn’t Elizabeth. This is Bethany. What are you talking about?
Elizabeth! I know you’re a little doped up on the medicine the hospital’s been giving you. Ever since the crash I’ve been knowing exactly what would happen.
Mom, you’re scaring me, please,” I beg. But mom will not listen.
I wanted to say good-bye, to tell you that I loved you, even though you’re not the same, and that you will be with us again soon after you…pass away.
Mom? Is that you? Mom, please! Tell me what you’re talking about!” I cry
We’ve saved some of your cells, and we’ll make an exact copy of you. There are only a few left so the next one will have to be the last. It’ll be like it never even happened, Lizzy!” Joy is amidst in her voice.
There was a long silence on the phone. “What do you mean?” I whisper.
“Oh, Elizabeth, you’ll be alive once more, you’ll look exactly the same. So will Mommy and Daddy. Your thirteenth birthday has come, and you will die tonight, just like all the others. I love you so much, sweetie. Myrlie will give you your poison, then the next one will can be started. Then she hangs up, leaving me with the haunting monotone “boooop” noise.
My heart is racing. I hear Myrlie’s footsteps. I skirt out of the kitchen and run out front. That’s when I notice that the doormat is gone. Written in chalk in all capital letters is: “BETHANY: Place of figs; a town of resurrection.” Then, “DIGISPUR CLONING.”
The next feeling I feel is a piercing ache, silver bullet in the brain.
    …..
Oh, she’s beautiful, what will you name her?” the nurse says.
I don’t know. I have a good feeling about this one, perhaps Elizabeth."

What with technology and all, this could be possible in the future, come to think of it.
Anyway, these past few days have been nothing but dull-been making notes for sch-, but tmr and the weekend shall be dedicated to shopping, getting a pedi and chilling with O. dear!
    Can't wait.
    Ta! ^_^

Subject: Candle Cove local kid’s show?

Does anyone remember this kid’s show? It was called Candle Cove and I must have been 6 or 7. I never found reference to it anywhere so I think it was on a local station around 1971 or 1972. I lived in Ironton at the time. I don’t remember which station, but I do remember it was on at a weird time, like 4:00 PM.

it seems really familiar to me…..i grew up outside of ashland and was 9 yrs old in 72. candle cove…was it about pirates? i remember a pirate marionete at the mouth of a cave talking to a little girl

Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?
YES! Okay I’m not crazy! I remember Pirate Percy. I was always kind of scared of him. He looked like he was built from parts of other dolls, real low-budget. His head was an old porcelain baby doll, looked like an antique that didn’t belong on the body. I don’t remember what station this was! I don’t think it was WTSF though.

Sorry to ressurect this old thread but I know exactly what show you mean, Skyshale. I think Candle Cove ran for only a couple months in ‘71, not ‘72. I was 12 and I watched it a few times with my brother. It was channel 58, whatever station that was. My mom would let me switch to it after the news. Let me see what I remember.
It took place in Candle cove, and it was about a little girl who imagined herself to be friends with pirates. The pirate ship was called the Laughingstock, and Pirate Percy wasn’t a very good pirate because he got scared too easily. And there was calliope music constantly playing. Don’t remember the girl’s name. Janice or Jade or something. Think it was Janice.

Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?
Thank you Jaren!!! Memories flooded back when you mentioned the Laughingstock and channel 58. I remember the bow of the ship was a wooden smiling face, with the lower jaw submerged. It looked like it was swallowing the sea and it had that awful Ed Wynn voice and laugh. I especially remember how jarring it was when they switched from the wooden/plastic model, to the foam puppet version of the head that talked.

ha ha i remember now too. ;) do you remember this part skyshale: “you have…to go…INSIDE.”
Skyshale033

Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?
Ugh mike, I got a chill reading that. Yes I remember. That’s what the ship always told Percy when there was a spooky place he had to go in, like a cave or a dark room where the treasure was. And the camera would push in on Laughingstock’s face with each pause. YOU HAVE… TO GO… INSIDE. With his two eyes askew and that flopping foam jaw and the fishing line that opened and closed it. Ugh. It just looked so cheap and awful.
You guys remember the villain? He had a face that was just a handlebar mustache above really tall, narrow teeth.

Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?
i honestly, honestly thought the villain was pirate percy. i was about 5 when this show was on. nightmare fuel.
Jaren_2005

Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?
That wasn’t the villain, the puppet with the mustache. That was the villain’s sidekick, Horace Horrible. He had a monocle too, but it was on top of the mustache. I used to think that meant he had only one eye.
But yeah, the villain was another marionette. The Skin-Taker. I can’t believe what they let us watch back then.

Subject:
Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?
jesus h. christ, the skin taker. what kind of a kids show were we watching? i seriously could not look at the screen when the skin taker showed up. he just descended out of nowhere on his strings, just a dirty skeleton wearing that brown top hat and cape. and his glass eyes that were too big for his skull. christ almighty.
Skyshale033
Subject:
Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?
Wasn’t his top hat and cloak all sewn up crazily? Was that supposed to be children’s skin??
mike_painter65
Subject: Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?

yeah i think so. rememer his mouth didn’t open and close, his jaw just slid back and foth. i remember the little girl said “why does your mouth move like that” and the skin-taker didn’t look at the girl but at the camera and said “TO GRIND YOUR SKIN”

Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?
I’m so relieved that other people remember this terrible show!
I used to have this awful memory, a bad dream I had where the opening jingle ended, the show faded in from black, and all the characters were there, but the camera was just cutting to each of their faces, and they were just screaming, and the puppets and marionettes were flailing spastically, and just all screaming, screaming. The girl was just moaning and crying like she had been through hours of this. I woke up many times from that nightmare. I used to wet the bed when I had it.
kevin_hart

Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?
i don’t think that was a dream. i remember that. i remember that was an episode.
Skyshale033
Subject:
Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?
No no no, not possible. There was no plot or anything, I mean literally just standing in place crying and screaming for the whole show.
kevin_hart

Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?
maybe i’m manufacturing the memory because you said that, but i swear to god i remember seeing what you described. they just screamed.

Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?
Oh God. Yes. The little girl, Janice, I remember seeing her shake. And the Skin-Taker screaming through his gnashing teeth, his jaw careening so wildly I thought it would come off its wire hinges. I turned it off and it was the last time I watched. I ran to tell my brother and we didn’t have the courage to turn it back on.

Subject: Re: Candle Cove local kid’s show?

i visited my mom today at the nursing home. i asked her about when i was littel in the early 70s, when i was 8 or 9 and if she remebered a kid’s show, candle cove. she said she was suprised i could remember that and i asked why, and she said “because i used to think it was so strange that you said ‘i’m gona go watch candle cove now mom’ and then you would tune the tv to static and juts watch dead air for 30 minutes. you had a big imagination with your little pirate show.”

My imagination ran amok with those detailed descriptions and man did i get a chill. >_<

Meetup~

Stir-fried pork ribs with garlic, egg tofu, 2 spicy soups and kailan, all at ThaiEssence at Vivocity. Twas good! Once i finally master spicy stuff imma head back for their Tom Khrap (smth) soup; it's tangy and salty, just what i like in a broth :)

Went with J.,S. and O., but didn't manage to take a group shot.
Anyway, today's 'gym session' with O. was a total failure(agai)! >: . I made her come all the way from Bishan to have the manager tell us that unless she was 21, O. couldn't get into the gym...we then decided to go to Toa Payoh's free access gym but they had no bathing facilities there, so we went to my house to laze around for a bit before heading to PS for a quick spot of shopping.
What i got:

Me to O.: "Aren't these so cheesy? All these quotes and whatnot...oh wait that's cute." *gets star-patterned case*. "Oh it's 1 for 1!"
Now idk what to do with this 'Vision' case, and no way can i pass it off as an xmas gift now. Lol!

Digression apart, bussed home with S., had lulz and chat and then took photos :) :
<- Are our lips sexay enough for you?
Haha!

Gym tmr, not to mention a bunch of chores...ah well.
Nights, peeps! ^^

Cool Orchard Road

Dinner with QW and O. and a stroll around Orchard...it's amazing, what a sensory experience Orchard can give one at night, eso during Christmas!
Within that hour we came across 4 dances acts; the first was this super cool Kpop dance mashup-all the guys were very happy for the sexy dances, of course(men.)-, the second a line dance. Quite cute in contrast, actually, this sweet old dance in comparison to the risque modern dances of today. XD Third was a hiphop one and the fourth, my favourite, was this Bollywood dance act these cute little Indian children put up! It was so infectiously happy it had me and Odie grinning away at the cuteness and sheer happiness of it all :D
Think it's time to start watching Bollywood shows again. I remember watching this sitcom where a farmer and peasant were arguing and abruptly they started dancing together in unison and perfect harmony and everyone around them joined it. It was, to my 9 yr old Chinese self, quite the amusing spectacle. To be angry at each other, then united in a simple song and dance!
In retrospect, if only if all arguments and unhappiness could be solved as something as simple as that...haha.
I'm waffling.

Gym with O. dear tmr and then dinner with J. and S. ...can't wait! :)
Night y'all!

Merp

When a little girl’s cat had kittens they disappeared, after a couple of days, she asked her mother what happened to them and her mother said “God took them.”
Months later the cat again had a litter of kittens. Her mother sent her out to run some errands, but, before she left, she wanted to play with the kittens again. She heard her father coming carrying a bucket and hid from him. She watched while her father put the kittens in a sack and drowned them in the bucket. Later the girl again asked her mother what happened to the kittens. Her mother said “God took them.”
Several days later the mother asked the girl to watch her brother in the bath tub while she answered the phone. When the mother returned, she started screaming “What happened to him? What happened to him?”
The little girl told her “God took him.”

Little horror story from Fyeahnightmares >D Damn do i love her blog! Anyway, went for K with S. today: Best buys of the day

This beautiful Gothic-like necklace and a bigass mint icecream!
Yelling my lungs out'll prob make my throat feel like it's been licked by a cat's sandpapery-tongue tmr but i figure Bon Jovi is worth it. :DD

Lazing around devouring books, having fun-and generally, being an idle twat-and all has it's dubious perks, but what i really crave is a change of scenery...like being in a totally different country, making new friends, taking on new experiences...damn do i need that.
Life as i know it has lost some of it's attraction and i want to rediscover it all over again.
Time to save up for a long vacation after grad.

Ciao~

"Not yet adults ourselves, we sought to protect ourselves from potential wounds by turning the tables on our perceived aggressors and being the ones to launch the attack. But it grew tiresome being a constant target, and those who clung to their injuries were surely not destined to live long."

-Natsuo Kirino, 'Grotesque'.

Gosh do i love her stark, analytic manner of writing. So in-your-face and unpretentious...now if only if all her books were translated(from Japanese to English),that'd be great!

Stumbled across this absolutely intriguing, scary gem of a fact when reading  http://fuckyeahnightmares.tumblr.com!

I'm really, super curious as to what the alleged mutant animals look like!! Cryptids have always deeply interested and intrigued me, especially marine ones...who knows what lurks in those murky depths??? (maybe they breed in 'black holes'-'tis been reputed that no human can enter these sea-bed holes due to extreme water pressure or the like???). Totally would love being an official 'cryptologist', if there ever was such a term, haha~

Homeless Woman Who Lived Undetected in Japanese Man’s Closet for a Year Is Caught
A homeless woman who sneaked into a man’s house and lived undetected in his closet for a year was arrested in Japan after he became suspicious when food mysteriously began disappearing.
Police found the 58-year-old woman Thursday hiding in the top compartment of the man’s closet and arrested her for trespassing, police spokesman Hiroki Itakura from southern Kasuya town said Friday.
The resident of the home installed security cameras that transmitted images to his mobile phone after becoming puzzled by food disappearing from his kitchen over the past several months.
One of the cameras captured someone moving inside his home Thursday after he had left, and he called police believing it was a burglar. However, when they arrived they found the door locked and all windows closed.
“We searched the house … checking everywhere someone could possibly hide,” Itakura said. “When we slid open the shelf closet, there she was, nervously curled up on her side.”
The woman told police she had no place to live and first sneaked into the man’s house about a year ago when he left it unlocked.
She had moved a mattress into the small closet space and even took showers, Itakura said, calling the woman “neat and clean.”

Normally one would be angry or for some, even outraged that their food had been stolen by some seeming 'freeloader' but this....
ah, the Japanese are so cute! XDD <3

In other news, all tests have officially ended!!!
Come next week,i'll finally be able to sleep, go out, read and make notes(caus ei'm nerdy like that)in peace. :D
Ah, bliss.

“Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no differe
nce into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again.” -Henry Scott Holland

Beautiful, macabre and poignant. Lovely. :)

Happy Birthday Odie! :))

Met up with Q. at Bishan after school today, and went off to celebrate O. Dear's birthday! <3 We dined at Thai Express with their church and poly mates, and their dessert, mango with sticky rice and coconut milk, is da bombz!
Deliciously sweet rice with juicy mango and rich, thick coconut milk....

I took my first bite and was all ...
"...good God, i feel heaven exploding in my mouth..."

Anyway, lame witticisms aside,
we came across this cute little boy and his sibling in a playground; said former being all friendly, cute and just plain adorable! My maternal instincts are so awakened now. I guess i'd want twins in the future, once i've gotten past my fear of pain.

To cut a long story short, we lit sparklers in the playground(to digress a bit, i find sparklers a bit scary -.-), where O's sweet poly friend surprised her with these glowsticks!
(yeah it's this small to provide some measure of privacy...)

Here's to 5-and counting-years of friendship my dear :))
Saranghae! <3 <3 <3
:))))

xoxoxoxo. :))
