Anyway, the days after the last time i blogged were so filled i couldn't be bothered to rise from my bed to use the computer, lol!
What went down:

Work!
In all honesty though, i've used my getaway(went to Vietnam then Cambodia this last week-just got back ytd) to think about this aspect of my life and decided i need a more...sustainable and meaningful choice of career.
Cupcake-baking and decorating's all very fun(if you overlook the tremendous amount of washing and cleaning-up, ha) but in the long-run, it's something i would love to do as a hobby, and not a chore.
Pay isn't ideal too, to be honest. Nothing i couldn't spend in two shopping trips...i confess. >_<
Also, i should really be more practical and spend all those years of education and accumulated knowledge on building a bridge to my ideal career path.
Abrupt jump to pics!
Iron Man 3 with Odie dear! ^_^ The movie was really good and i especially loved it when Tony exploded all his suits in bursts of fireworks to compensate his wife... not enough to win her over, in my opinion-she nearly died cause of him for goodness sake!-but, well...
man the things i would expect if i were in her shoes. LOL!
kBox with Mira! :) This girl can sing! <3

Lunch at NYP for the Last Time(HELL YES FINALLY!!); shopping trips to various places at Orchard afterwards and an impromptu 'photo-taking session'(alright fancy terms aside, 'an excuse to camwhore' would be more accurate LOL) whilst a short rest! Above's what i got in preparation for my trip.
I keep telling myself-and my poor blighted mum-, with every new pair of shoes i purchase, that 'this will be the last pair of shoes i'll get for this year'.
Then i go and get another pair, so taken with the design, the thought of how many outfits i could finish off with it(and somehow this makes a pair of shoes 'practical' in my opinion, and i'm always a sucker for shoes and practicality -_-) and thus make a fool out of myself and my then-firmly-held belief that that would indeed be the last pair ever for the year.

Anyway as it turned out, my beautiful, ankle-mauling pair of Jeffrey Camps weren't the last.
These Nikes lasted me the whole week though and i have to say that it was $$ well spent! Thank goodness my initial planned purchase,Lacoste, was sold out that day because these sports shoes really lived up to their rep! I have sensitive, wide feet and it's hard to find a brand which can provide me with comfort, so i really struck gold with these Nikes. Nylon sides allow that stretch one requires for broad feet and the oh-so-soft, cushion-y insoles were just perfect!
One of the best investments ever. :)
And the HURTS cd. Dreamy, melancholic but strangely up-lifting in a certain way. Idk how to put it accurately in words but it made me feel inspired to be a better person. By that i mean one who's compassionate, willing to help others and be kind in any and every way possible... Or maybe it was the fact that i was in a third-world country to begin with. I hope i make sense here. Haha!
Oh, then dinner with WF afterwards:

Honestly this delicious salmon pales in comparision to the salmon steak i had in Cambodia, at this classy restaurant named 'ANA'-cooked on the outside and raw at the core, with sweet-sour sauce and fresh baby corn in a mysteriously good gravy...a flaming pity i didn't take my camera with me -another story i'll be ranting a bit about when i finally post pics of the trip; my cam's charging now ><- , otherwise i would've been snapping non-stop! Delicious!
Anyway, i don't have any pics to refer to now, but the trip to Vietnam and Cambodia was a relief!!! I didn't even think i would've enjoyed it to this extent, to be honest.
According to my mum, the hotel room we were in-in Vietnam-was haunted, because both she and i heard hangers in our closet moving around really loudly at night, on the first day of our stay.Only my mum identified the noise for what it really was. I was in bed when it happened and being the perpetually confused( 'blur', to be concise, haha!)individual i am, i attributed the mysterious noise to weird neighbours next door and promptly fell asleep. My mum just regaled my dad and i with how water gushed out of the taps at 3am on the third day of our stay in Vietnam, and how she saw two squat figures dart out of the bathroom after it stopped. One shot out the door and another, into the bathroom.
All i can say is, unless the figures like chubby chicks, i don't think i feel violated in any way. Haha!
Victoria Ankor Resort and Spa in Cambodia was h e a v e n. Although i must say, i think it was the frigid air of the room(my mum switched it on while we were gone, otherwise the room would've been rather humid!) that did it for us.
The weather in Cambodia is no joke.
We checked the weather forecasts there and it was 32 degrees-same like in SG. But it was so much more different there!! The air was thicker, heavier with so much humidity and once you stepped out from the cold comfort of your room, moisture just clings to you like a wet sheet.
Ironically though, my severe sore throat got a hell lot better in Cambodia than in Vietnam; it got worse in the latter, actually. I blame the strain on the air pollution in the latter. It was jam-packed with masses of motorcycles!! Everywhere you turn you see a whole, mad throng rushing about and those motorcyclists don't even care if you're in their way; they just charge head-on!
I did notice they made allowances for girls wearing heels and feminine outfits though. It's like an armor of sorts and a necessity to get through the mad onslaught of traffic ><
Diversion aside, it was also ironic that i did more shopping in Cambodia than Vietnam! But on hindsight, i'm happier with my buys from the latter than the former-shoes, yes again what else ><, and this empire-cut, white top! I must've looked Vietnamese for a got lots of salespeople speaking to me in their native tongue that day.
And this is yet another digression, but i must say, my friends had it right when they stated i'd never want to return to Vietnam again.
>_< Pardon my forthright manner. Not being politically correct here(haha), but.. the shopping was forgettable-their 'shopping centres' were like wet markets or pasar-malams-, as so was the food, and to add insult to injury, the quality of customer service was...objectionable.
No smiles; blatant stares-yet another pet peeve of mine; doesn't anyone in this age and day know it's impolite to stare???-and in one case, outright bitchiness.
I had approached my mother in a Triumph section of the little, 4-level shopping mall we were in only to be accosted by hostile stares from this small cluster of Vietnamese sales-women.
I wouldn't call them ladies, for in my opinion, 'ladies' have manners and good up-bringing and these, they certainly did not have; as was my first impression. They did the whole 'stare-at-you; scrutinize-your-outfit,shoes,hair-and-looks' and finished everything off with bitchy, outright stares.
Bloody ruined my mood, and that's usually hard to achieve on one of my shopping binges! Worst customer experience ever. My right hand itches to dispense punishment.
Yes please.
So anyway, rotten experience aside... i had a jolly good time in Cambodia! Genuine smiles from lovely locals-there was this local girl who half-heartedly waved at our passing bus; i waved and smiled at her and her resulting beam of happiness was so lovely and so genuine it really made my day :))-, good shopping-mostly nice souvenirs(none of that keychain crap for my good friends), printed dresses, ethnic bags and...books!
And of course, good food. Of course! <3
Oh and i got to hold a live snake there! Definitely a nice experience. Would want to hold a tame tiger/lion cub, or whatever tame animal there may be, next. I love animals :))
On another note..it's my birthday today ^_^
Got lots of lovely messages from friends-some of whom i didn't expect, really(i mean this in a good way; i was pleasantly surprised :)) and some from really old friends who i thought i'd lost contact with! :) What a nice day.
So i started the day with a visit to a temple. It was then that i finally appreciated SG's weather(LOL) and the fact that drinkable water flowed from our taps, really. Also, that sense of peace was so overpowering.
I attribute this to the fact that i'd spent so much time with nature. The whole climbing-up-ruins thing and watching arid greenery and simple kampong-life whiz by whilst listening to Hurts and FOB, perhaps?
In any case, i'm definitely returning to Cambodia to fully explore allll the ruins and indulge in the heavenly massages and body scrubs once i have enough $$ again!! It's amazing! Never thought i'd like hiking and doing outdoor activities so much! I should join an interest group one day, since most of my buddies don't like sports and such...but i digress.
Then mum and i headed to Le Toille(did i get the name right?) for lunch! No food pic but we had mushroom soup; she had carbonara-which tasted bland to me, but then again i have really screwed taste buds-and i had salmon-cream-cheese bagel! Yum <3
On a more unglam note, i did the ironing when we got home. My dad doesn't do most of the housechores, you see. LOL!
I didn't mind though. Was jetlagged and needed some time alone anyway :)
Teabreak:
You can see that paperbag and it's name in the foreground; that's where you'd want to stay when you visit Cambodia!! :D
Then, crab dinner and black forest cake at night with my dad and mum at home. :)) A week's worth of absence really made me miss him!! Family dinners. <3 :)
Well, i've got to rise early tmr for the first belated birthday celebration so i guess i'd better end this post abruptly...shitloads of pics tmr!! :)
Nights y'all :))
