Blissfully content

To say that i am easily satisfied is but a fact. :)

Arose early(for goodness knows how long since when), took a bus from Tpy to Odie's church to meet our new mutual friend for breakfast! Then sermons started.
To state frankly, i've never had one church service i had really bought into/ fully liked until today's. Everyone knows each other and the church is of a modest size, which contributes to the warm and homey atmosphere, in a way! Everyone was so friendly too :DD
It wasn't necessary to make a donation and my new friend(introduced on the night Odie and i went for dinner with them~) actually pushed my hand away when i tried to contribute. It was an action which impressed me, to a degree, actually. They worked their way up from a smaller building to the relatively larger one they currently preside in, all by amassing all of their own resources and strength. No pushing or windy sermons designed to milk it's followers of as much cash as possible to make their ascent possible too...might i add.
What left an impression was that i detected no hint of critical judgement in the atmosphere either. Most notably of all, no scent of pretension or overblown, grandiose sermons designed to be emotionally blackmailing.
Eg: They make you remember your darkest moment, how alone and miserable you felt and all of a sudden they wallop you with the grace and might of the Almighty and bellow with great intensity at you, how He will save you, and all...then they tell you to accept him and usher you into rooms where they attempt to convert you/ tell you with almost patronizing patience "It's okay, you will see in time.". Tsk.

I've nothing against Christianity; many of my friends are Christians. It's the overblown, almost pompous style of sermon-delivery of some preachers that i dislike and instinctively mistrust.
However, these preachers today at Odie's church delivered their sermons in a quiet, sincere and heartfelt manner. Their sincerity is very tangible and real, and you can actually feel their quiet, but strong faith in their God!
They were even so excruciatingly polite that they told me to state any objections if i had any(am a Buddhist by faith, but parents allow me to attend church, etc. :) )when it came to a cell meeting in their 'Youth room'! Hahaha. Never had anyone tell me that before. xD

All in all, a rather notable first service and church-encounter i've attended, i must say! :)
This ain't an advert, but if you'd like to give this modest, cosy church a try, it's ECF Church at 74 Upper Aljunied Road, Singapore 367846.
Going back there again the following Sun, cause this cute, energetic and enthusiastic Youth preacher will be giving a sermon!

After the service, i went with another newly-made friend to withdraw $ and met Odie and the rest of her cell friends for lunch, then off we went to watch Paranorman.
It was...meh. Really a kiddy's movie. ):  I didn't find it particularly comic or amusing, or least of all, scary. It just straddles both 'mild comedy' and 'mild horror', i think.
Anyway, after the movie and we had gotten our bubble teas and socialised, we parted ways~
They're a bunch of easy going and animated people! Fun to hang with? :)

Upon my return, family and i went for dinner at a restaurant. The crabs were gooooood. :D Tender yet firm, delicately sweet crabmeat <3 Delicious. The seafood noodles, braised goose and veg was noteworthy too! Totally should bring my friends there one day.

Good food, good company, and having found a place full of welcoming hospitality and geniality...all in all, today was a good day.  :)))

On another note, i'll have to gym more intensively tmr to lose all the weight i've gained. Ah well.

Thus ends this post. :))

Ta, people! ^_^
